have not took this out on trail but tried it at home and it seemed pretty good, happy with it so far but it does have a strap that im not to sure what it is for.

I bought this chair for New Orleans Jazzfest--you sit for 30 minutes at the Jazz Tent, then get up, throw the strap over your shoulder, the chair folds automatically, and you are off to the Gospel tent while everyone else is still stuffing their chair in the bag. Extremely lightweight. Plus, this chair fits in tiny spaces. I have squeezed through the crowd and sat in the chair where other chairs wouldn't fit. I had many people at Jazzfest ask where I got my chair. There is a little bit of balance involved when sitting, but once settled, you can lean back very comfortably.
If you are going to be sitting in one place for hours, this is not your chair. If you only have a short distance to haul your chair, this is not your chair. But for $20, even if I only use this chair at Jazzfest once a year, it is well worth it. Hike camping, golf tournaments, festivals---this is your chair.

The Ultimate Travelchair is perfect for photographers or anyone who carries heavy gear and needs to sit occasionally. It's sturdy, and not too low, with a strap for shoulder carry. If you carry around a 500mm you will totally relate to what a chair will do, which is relieve you of the weight of the gear whenever you need to. I also keep it in my car for when my mom is with me and needs to sit down on an outing.

I also ordered the one without the back for longer hikes, which is shorter and easy to wear on the hip. Both are perfect for this.
